About the Artist:
An award winning artist, Joan has found success during her career by exhibiting her work in Galleries in New York, California, Florida, and Tennessee. Her works are also in various private and corporate collections. She is currently exhibiting exclusively in P.A.St.A Fine Arts Gallery in St. Augustine, Florida.
“Experimenting with color in unusual combinations inspires me to work in a series until I am ready to move on to another subject. I was recently moved by the beauty and importance of natural grasses in our environment. Thus ..... The Grasses of Florida” became the theme of a new series of paintings. Tall, short, thick thin, angular or curving, they all play an important role in protecting our lands. Some call my work contemporary expressionism which strays into semi-abstraction. Some of my other themes have included rock formations, flowers, beaches, pottery shapes, and landscapes. Experimental and non-traditional techniques are often incorporated into my paintings.
Joan has been painting for 30 years and has taught adult studio classes and conducted Elderhostel art classes. She has had commissioned art assignments and consulted for Co-op Galleries.
She is currently affiliated with the Professional Artist of St. Augustine (locally known as “P.A.St.A Gallery) and is serving as President of this organization.
