About the Artist:
Ramon Baquera was born in Juarez, Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of fourteen.
He was always interested in art. From a very young age he was sketching just about everything he could see. In Mexico, on his father’s farm, it was fighting roosters and mountains.
At about the age of thirty two, Ramon started to develop as a serious artist. He had been working in a local hardware store. Just to pay the bills, he would say. Meanwhile, his yearning for art was getting the best of him. Influenced by a close friend, he began to paint. Of course, he would take his paintings to work to share with his co-workers. Everyone wanted to know, “What are you doing working here?” You should be painting as a career and with a lot of encouragement from his close friends he decided to do just that.
Since then, Ramon has been published in local newspapers and magazines and has won awards in local shows. Ramon stays busy now, sculpting and painting in his gallery in Crescent City. He says, “I have people asking to paint their children, pets, animals and local scenes. It is great to be an artist who can make people so happy with what I can do fro them. I look forward to each piece i do and can’t wait to start the next one.”
