About the Artist:
Barbara A. Lutton, Professional Fine Artist
"I am often asked, how long have you been painting?" An interesting question since I can't remember a time when art was not on my wish list. Yes, I did spend years rearing a family and pursuing a career, but there was always a space reserved for drawing and painting. Retirement offers a wonderful time to really indulge in the things you love and for 20 plus years, painting has been my passion. Continuing education is important to me and I attend workshops whenever possible and have painted with the very best and always come home with new inspiration. Teaching is a special way to pass on what I have learned and I am delighted with the enthusiasm and accomplishments of my watercolor students.
During the three years my husband and I spent in Kenya, Africa, I was an active artist with the Banana Hill Art Studio and hosted art workshops some sponsored by the German Embassy and the Ford Foundation. On my return to the U.S., I had a one woman show of my African artwork at the Ramsdale Theater in Manastee, Michigan. I regularly enter juried shows and am proud of the many awards I have received for my work.
My paintings are shown in the PASTA Gallery (Professional Artists of St. Augustine). I am a member of the Jacksonville Watercolor Society, The Florida Watercolor Society, The Jacksonville Coalition of Visual Arts, and the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center.
I am a graduate of Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY and reside with my husband in St. Augustine, Florida. Watercolor has become my first choice in mediums but I do work in pastel, oil, and acrylic.
